Amethyst has a chance to be a villager's favourite daily gift, meaning you'll want to know where to find it in Disney Dreamlight Valley's many biomes if you're looking to increase friendship levels.
It's also a valuable gem in Disney Dreamlight Valley, that can be used to get a substantial amount of Star Coins.

Where to get Amethyst in Disney Dreamlight Valley: All spawn locations
Click to enlargeAmethyst can be found in Disney Dreamlight Valley by mining rock spots (indicated via the image above) in the following biomes:
- Forgotten Lands – Costs 15,000 Dreamlight to unlock, has a chance to produce Diamonds instead
- Frosted Heights – Costs 10,000 Dreamlight to unlock, has a chance to produce Tourmaline instead. Parts of this biome are locked off by ice and will require you to advance Elas's friendship quests
Tips for mining Amethyst
Click to enlargeIf you're on a mining spree for these purple gems, the best tactic is to bring along a companion that has proficiency in the mining skill, even more so if you have a high friendship level with them.
To do so, simply find the character on the map and ask them to 'hang out'. They will then follow you around and accumulate friendship points as you mine. You'll additionally also have a chance to discover twice the number of gems, doubling your yield when with them.

Amethyst uses in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Click to enlargeOne of the main uses for Amethyst in Disney Dreamlight Valley is that it can sell for 500 Star Coins at any of Goofy's Stalls.
What's more, as you mine for Amethyst you will have a chance to uncover Shiny Amethyst - a bigger and more expensive variant - which can net you a whopping 2,000 Star Coins each.
Whilst any rock spot may contain Amethyst, ones with purple spots usually have a better chance of yielding these shinier gems.
Click to enlargeVillagers may also request Amethyst or Shiny Amethyst as a daily favourite gift (worth triple the amount of friendship points). As such, it's always a good idea to keep a surplus of every type of gem and ingredient so you can level up friendships faster.
