Brace yourselves, Starfield mods are already here
The great gaming race of 2023 has turned into something of a great space race. While The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom looked like it had it in the bag, Baldur's Gate 3 is already threatening to knock it from the top. That's before we get to Sony and Microsoft duking it out with Spider-Man 2 and Starfield.
Bethesda has made a name for itself with the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games, with Todd Howard saying he hopes Starfield will have similar success to Skyrim and run for the next decade. Like the developer's other big franchises, the modding community is sure to keep it alive.
Starfield mods are already coming
Click to enlargeStarfield is fuelling up for its September 6 release, and while it's still a while off, the game's Nexus Mods page is already live. Although the console version of Starfield will get a general vanilla release, legions of you are sure to be buying on PC so that you can mod it into oblivion.
Modding is a growing trend, and even if some of you use it simply to turn your playable character into Shrek or add Thomas the Tank Engine into space, there are some major positives to modding. It's no secret that games tend to release in something of a rocky state, meaning modders do the work of devs in half the time.
From improving textures to fixing lighting and audio, devs can be fast, but modders are faster. We're yet to see what state Starfield is in, but rest assured, the title's Nexus Mods page will soon be flooded with tweaks and overhauls. There's even a whole Wiki explaining how YOU can mod.
Nexus Mods goes hard on Starfield modding
Click to enlargeMuch like Microsoft is banking on Starfield's success, Nexus Mods is doing the same. The landing page writes, "Chat with thousands of hyped explorers in our Discord server, or share your mod ideas on our forums," while there's a chance to win a free copy of the 2023 game.
As reported by PCGamesN, fans are already gearing up for the Starfield Community Patch. The team is asking for your help outlining bugs and issues, before the SCP devs will jump in and unveil the massive fan patch as close to release as possible.
You only have to look at how Skyrim consistently outranks Bethesda's most recent release (Fallout 4) to see modding can literally keep you afloat for years after most titles have been blasted into the abyss of space. A lot is riding on Starfield, and even if some are modding for bugs, there will always be those who want to mod Darth Maul onto their space station.
