It's the battle of the space epics, as Bethesda's Starfield goes up against Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws. While we know Ubisoft has churned out some bangers like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Rayman Legends, it also brought us The Expendables 2 Videogame and Fighters Uncaged

We'd be lying if we said there weren't concerns that Ubisoft is flying the Star Wars series, but from what we've seen so far, we're pleasantly surprised that Star Wars Outlaws could deliver something new. Giving us some serious Star Wars 1313 vibes with a bit of Assassin's Creed thrown in, it's all up for grabs.

Fans think Star Wars Outlaws could beat Starfield

Star Wars Outlaws Creative Director Julian Gerighty dropped a tonne of details about the 2024 game in the latest issue of Edge Magazine, confirming there will be a series of main planets (boasting an impressive size) and they won't be procedurally generated like Starfield's 1,000.

When the news was shared on Twitter, gamers couldn't wait to see Ubisoft's spin on the galaxy far, far away. One cheered, "I'm already looking forward to this, far more than starfield(fail)," while another added, "This honestly sounds better than Starfield." A third summed up, "So starfield but better."

Not everyone was sold, though. One sceptic said, "Zero sense to make it. I hope it doesn't become a Gollum replica" - citing the failure of Daedalic Entertainment's game. Another concluded, "Dudes really replying on Ubisoft game as answer to Starfield lmao.

"Feels bad funny so much room for activities and in the demo they show linear path to ride your hover bike down...think I'll wait to see what's what they haven't even got Avatar out the door yet." It's true, there's still Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to see how Ubisoft can handle new-gen sci-fi titles.

Stop comparing games to Starfield

There are all the usual grumbles that there's a smear campaign against Starfield, especially with it being an Xbox exclusive. Similar to complaints that Starfield will be locked to 30 FPS but no one batted an eye when it came to Zelda, several outlets were called out for badmouthing Bethesda's sci-fi epic.

Ultimately, Starfield and Star Wars Outlaws are two completely different beasts, releasing in different years. As one pointed out, Starfield claims to have 100 handcrafted planets and 900 generated ones, meaning Outlaws is still a smaller affair - but we already knew that.

Outlaws has also faced its own critics, with seemingly misogynistic gamers moaning that they'll have to play a woman. At the end of the day, you'll never be able to please everyone. Why can't we just enjoy Starfield and Outlaws as they are, and maybe, just wait until they're out before you rip them to pieces?
