According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, the Vegas Eternal are in the process of retrialling all of its roster positions.

The extensive trial is said to be approximately 30 players strong and contains both Vegas Eternal’s current players, as well as a selection of North American and South Korean Contenders players and former Overwatch League professionals.

Sources shared with GGRecon that the trials are allegedly concluding soon.

Vegas Eternal trials

After a disappointing first half in the season during which the Vegas Eternal had only won a single map, the team is alleged to have decided on a rebuild, retrialling all positions.

The currently signed players appear to have been allowed to compete for their positions on the team and have also been sighted in the trials.

Sources stated that none of the former Toronto Defiant players recently let go by the organisation participated in the trials.

Among the trial prospects are allegedly also South Korean players from Contenders teams that had participated in the Spring Stage Knockout bracket in the APAC region.

Moreover according to GGRecon’s sources, Head Coach Empress has been sighted in the tryouts for the Eternal.

Given the trial dates shared with participants, the process is expected to conclude soon.

With the Overwatch League on a short summer break after the conclusion of the Midseason Madness, it is likely to start up again in mid-July, meaning that the Eternal are also on the clock to finalise their roster.

The Vegas Eternal had relocated their franchise for the sixth season of the Overwatch League and had previously been known as the Paris Eternal. The team had largely stuck to its roster from last season, reassembling the roster around the Contenders team Odyssey.

The reunification of Contenders rosters under an Overwatch League franchise has not delivered satisfying results for several franchises in the sixth season of the Overwatch League with the Toronto Defiant, San Francisco Shock, and the aforementioned Vegas Eternal all failing to make the Midseason Madness qualifier with similar roster building approaches. The Toronto Defiant had announced similar rebuild efforts, letting go of Samuel "s9mm" Santos, Nicholas "Speedily" Zou, and Christian "Ojee" Han while signing South Korean Contenders players Go "Spectra" Dong-woo and An "OPENER" Gi-beom.

GGRecon has reached out to the Vegas Eternal but has yet to receive a comment as of the time of publication.
