Analyst of the Philadelphia Fusion and map-maker extraordinaire Joni "Seita" Paavola recently published an incredible workshop mode that may satisfy your appetite for some Overwatch PvE while we wait for Overwatch 2. The map which can be found in the Overwatch workshop with the code "CDAYS" requires five players and a lot of coordination. As either Reinhardt, Junkrat, Ashe, Baptiste, and Soldier:76 players take the battlefield against the "Mythic Boss" and his mobs and will have to avoid several encounter abilities which scale with the four available difficulties - easy, normal, heroic, and mythic.

Even at normal difficulty the custom map appears to be challenging as Overwatch League pro players appeared to struggle while teaming up. Toronto Defiant's main support Harrison "Kruise" Pond shared his thoughts on Twitter:

The encounter very much reminds of the World of Warcraft boss design, sporting all kinds of abilities which players will have to avoid, on top of mobs which will come to assist the boss while you fight it. The fight requires solid strategy and tactics as the players' abilities have to be aligned with encounter mechanics to survive the different phases.

Seita appears to be aware that he has created an incredibly hard challenge, asking players to send in their replay codes or recordings of them beating the encounter on Mythic difficulty and promising to immortalise the first group at the start screen of the map.

In his position as an analyst at the Philadelphia Fusion, Seita had created several custom maps to make practice time more effective for teams in the Overwatch League. The maps range from a Sigma reaction time practice tool to Pharah and Widowmaker 1on1 game modes. The practice codes and other workshop maps he created can be found here.

During last year's Blizzcon, Overwatch 2 had been announced as a PvE AddOn of sorts, promising to deliver and expand on the experiences the Overwatch player base had enjoyed during the seasonal events in which they got to team up against the AI and fight through micro-story points. A playable scenario was also shown on stream during Blizzcon, featuring four heroes running through different sequential phases to finish their mission. A release date for Overwatch 2 has not been announced.
