Your latest TV obsession is finally moving forward, as Amazon’s much-hyped Fallout series has started casting. While the streaming service is going big with The Rings of Power to expand J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings franchise, gaming fans are excited to see what Amazon can do with Bethesda’s futuristic horror.

Live-action video game adaptations are everywhere these days, and after Detective Pikachu bucked the trend to prove that gaming can make a positive impression on other mediums, we’ve been inundated with movies and TV series ever since. Only recently, we’ve seen HBO's The Last of Us and Paramount’s Halo give hope that we’re in the golden age of video game adaptations. Now, it’s Fallout's turn.

Who Has Joined The Fallout Cast?

According to Deadline, Ant-Man and the Wasp's Walton Goggins has joined the cast of Amazon’s Fallout. Aside from playing the villainous Sonny Burch in the MCU, Goggins has also had major roles in Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and The Hateful Eight

Goggins has reportedly landed a major role, however, his character is simply referred to Ghoul. We don't know the plot of Fallout, but if it’s anything like the games, Goggin’s character will presumably be one of the disfigured outcasts of the nuclear apocalypse. It’s also unclear whether his role will be as a hero or antagonist of the series.

Although this is the first piece of news we’ve got about Fallout casting, the fact Amazon has nabbed Goggins suggests we’ll be going for a reasonably high calibre of talent. You only have to look at The Last of Us getting Pedro Pascal or The Witcher having Henry Cavill to see video game shows can lure in some major talent.

First announced in 2020, a Fallout series has the potential to be something massive - thanks mainly to its expansive lore. We're in safe hands, with Westworld showrunner Jonathan Nolan working on the series, and if that wasn’t enough, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 Game Director Todd Howard will serve as an Executive Producer.

Now that the casting wheels are in motion, expect Fallout to start rumbling forward with more cast. There's no news on when the series could start shooting or when it will release, however, sources have previously suggested shooting could start later this year. While Goggins' casting is a first step, expect Amazon's Fallout series to still be a long way off.
