Destiny 2 Season 23 is almost a complete unknown to us right now, but we Guardians do like to look ahead. Destiny 2 is headed towards a climax in The Final Shape, but there are still some seasons between now and then.

Season 23 will kick off this Winter, and take us through to next year and to the end of the game as we know it. Here is everything we know about Destiny 2 Season 23 so far.

SPOILER WARNING: This guide contains story spoilers for Season of the Deep, so be sure to proceed at your own risk.

The safest guess we can make right now about when Destiny 2 Season 23 will be here is in the Winter of 2023. The seasonal system is fairly predictable, so based on what we know, we can say this much with relative certainty.

We do know that Season 22 will begin on August 29. Based on this, it would stand to reason that Season 23 will either begin in very late November, or more likely early December.

Precise details about what we can expect in Season 23 are yet to be revealed, but we can infer some things based on what has come before, what has happened recently, and what we know is in the near future.

For example, we know that Season 23 will follow the seasonal structure, meaning we will get new seasonal activities, new seasonal gear, and a seasonal story that will develop week to week.

We also know there will be a new dungeon added to the game during this season. Nothing more about this dungeon has been unveiled, and considering that the details of raids and dungeons are often left ambiguous right up until launch, it is unlikely that we will know much about this dungeon until the days or weeks before it launches.

Again, we are too far out to say anything for sure, but we can determine some details by looking at the overall context. At the time of writing, the story of Season of the Deep has wrapped up, ending with an implication on where the story is going next.

There are potential spoilers ahead for those of you who have not completed the Season of the Deep story quest, so stop here if you do not want to read those.

We can assume that The Final Shape will involve our Guardians travelling through the mysterious portal left by The Witness, and everything leading up to that will be our attempts to learn more about the said portal. We have learned from Ahsa that the only one who knows how to enter the portal is Savathun.

Season of the Deep ends with a heavy implication that our next step is to resurrect the Witch Queen. Whether that takes place in Season 22 or in Season 23 is yet to be known. If it isn't the former, it is sure to be the latter.

From a recent interview, we know that the Destiny 2 narrative team are intentionally weighing these seasons between Lightfall and The Final Shape towards the main story, rather than branching off. In other words, Season 23 is going to directly tie into The Final Shape's narrative and lead us into this final expansion.

That is everything we currently know about Destiny 2 Season 23. For more, check out our Destiny homepage, or check out the Destiny 2 patch notes for update 7.1.0.
