Fortnite Racing Mode: Everything we know so far

The long-rumoured Fortnite Racing Mode is nearing its debut. This isn't your average Fortnite LTM either - Fortnite Racing is a full-fledged experience like Battle Royale and Creative. So, if you have a need for speed, keep reading to learn more about the upcoming Fortnite Racing Mode.

Fortnite Racing Mode: Release date

Fortnite's brand-new Racing Mode is still largely under wraps and undergoing testing, so there's no concrete release date yet. However, if everything goes smoothly, the Racing Mode should arrive in Chapter 5 Season 1. Look for Chapter 5 Season 1 to come to the game in November or December 2023.

Fortnite Racing Mode: Modes

Inside Fortnite Racing, aspiring drivers will find several individual modes to choose from and play.

Fortnite Racing offers both a Casual and a Competitive Mode, plus a couple of alternative modes titled Death Race and Easy Rider. And if you're a speedrunner or just like to compete with your friends, you can play Time Trials. There'll also be a Tutorial to help players get acclimated with Fortnite Racing.

Fortnite Racing Mode: Maps

Right away, the Fortnite Racing Mode will offer plenty of courses for you and your friends to cruise into. So far, there are 12 Casual maps and four Competitive maps. While no images of the maps exist yet, we do know their names:

Casual Racing Maps

• Apollo
• Cruise
• Driftmania
• Facade
• Infinity
• JackRabbit
• Olympus
• Rally
• Sidewinder
• Snap
• Sweet Jumps
• Turbine

Competitive Racing Maps

• Asian Circuit
• Driftmania EZ3
• Sweet Jumps
• Turbine

Remember, Fortnite's Racing Mode is still in the preliminary stages, so these map names might only be codenames, and there might be more maps too!

Fortnite Racing Mode: Gameplay

As for gameplay, Fortnite Racing will function almost like a hybrid between Rocket League and Mario Kart.

Just like in Mario Kart, drivers can get an initial speed boost by holding the accelerate key/button at the perfect time during the pre-race countdown. Drivers can also drift to manoeuvre around corners and build up a drift boost. Furthermore, tracks will feature environmental hazards like mud and ice that affect handling.

Onto the similarities with Rocket League, the iconic Octane is one of the vehicles you can use in Fortnite Racing. And like in Rocket League, you can control your car mid-air, do tricks, activate Supersonic Speed, and demo opposing vehicles!

Fortnite Racing Mode: Battle Pass and Garage

Backing the idea that Fortnite Racing is more of an experience than a game mode, Fortnite Racing sports its own Battle Pass separate from the regular Battle Pass for Battle Royale and Zero Build. The Racing Battle Pass will feature items you can use to upgrade and customise your vehicles in the Garage tab.
