Matthew "FormaL" Piper's conquest to become the best FPS player of all time has grown even stronger, as the multi-esports legend has made another monumental step in the right direction.

After retiring from Call of Duty as a former World Champion and many-time major championship winner, FormaL is widely considered to be on the Mount Rushmore of FPS royalty.

What Is A Three-Peat?

Having always lagged behind the likes of Seth "Scump" Abner and Ian "Crimsix" Porter, FormaL remains the last man standing, and his recent success in Halo is continuing to break records.

FormaL has long been one of the best console esports players ever, and back during his days for OpTic Gaming in Call of Duty, he and the "dynasty" team became one of the very few teams to complete a "three-peat."

Known more commonly as a hat-trick of championship success, this esteemed feat has never been achieved across two esports... until now...

FormaL Continues To Break FPS Records

FormaL and OpTic Gaming have kicked on in the new season by winning the opening Major at HCS Charlotte, and after their 2022 World Championships and HCS Major Orlando, they've now won three consecutive titles to complete the hat-trick.

FormaL's three-peat now makes him the first to achieve this, building on records such as being in an esteemed handful of players to have won World Championships in more than one game. Other esports players have managed to win Majors in different esports.

To name a few, OpTic's Cuyler "Huke" Garland has won in both CoD and Halo, Patiphan "Patiphan" Chaiwong has seen Major success in Overwatch and VALORANT, and Zainab "zAAz" Turkie got her hands on silverware in VALORANT and Counter-Strike.

However, nobody has ever won a hat-trick of championships across two separate titles until FormaL, who adds this accolade to an ever-growing list. Whether or not he can now rival Crimsix as the FPS goat is a debate for another time.
