Hogwarts Legacy bans players from using Unforgivable Curses
Yeah, whipping out a quick Flipendo is all well and good, but it doesn't quite compare to blasting your enemies with an Avada Kedavra. For all you wannabe Dark Lords and Dark Ladies, using Unforgivable Curses is a big part of Hogwarts Legacy - rattling through Sebastian Sallow's questline to add them to our spellbook.
You can be a good little witch or wizard and complete the game without turning to the dark side, but safe to say, Unforgivable Curses make Hogwarts Legacy a lot easier. However, the latest Hogwarts Legacy update is stopping you from using them.

Why is the Hogwarts Legacy update banning Unforgivable Curses?
They've patched it so you can't use unforgivables in a certain boss-fight

Posting on the Hogwarts Legacy subreddit, u/CrimeBeMyJam noticed that the latest update has patched the ability to use Unforgivable Curses on the Cassandra Mason boss fight. As part of the Minding Your Business side quest, Mason is an optional boss battle that packs a punch from Hogsmeade.
Although Mason isn't the game's hardest boss, a few flicks from an Unforgivable finished her off nicely and was a popular method to send her packing to Azkaban. The patch notes don't mention the nerf directly, although there's a mention of fixing a glitch when using Avada Kedavra on Mason, so this could be it.
Fuming about the changes, one muggle wrote, "What the f**k lol patching something that wasn't a problem? just give us companions," while another added, "I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found the immense pleasure of using Cruicio on that witch. Sad day that we cannot experience it again"
A third concluded, "That is absolute BS. What's the point of putting the unforgivables in the game to only use them against low level threats. I find it wasteful to use it on goblins or mongrels. I like to save it as a last resort against harder bosses."
Is a Hogwarts Legacy sequel on the way?

In the meantime, there are hopes for some sort of DLC, although we keep being disappointed. The announcement of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions seemingly debunks the idea of a Quidditch DLC, while a recent Tom Felton collab turned out to just be him playing the game.
Warner Bros. has doubled down on its commitment to nurturing its major IPs like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, so we're sure this isn't the last we've heard of Hogwarts Legacy.
