It seems that Counter-Strike 2's reveal was a short, sharp, burst of information and elation. Ever since, we've had nothing. Valve really doesn't know how to manage hype trains, does it?

It seems that Valve has lost a grip on all but two things - managing Steam, and making good games. Its marketing might have been swept up by the wind and lost entirely, leaving the anticipation in the hands of fans. Thankfully, they're still excited about the upcoming strategy shooter.

According to too many fans, the quiet from the Valve camp is a reason for concern, and it looks like there's a chance CS2 could end up being delayed from its proposed summer release. As though we haven't waited long enough.

Counter-Strike 2 could be delayed

Rumour has it that Nuke will be the next map featured in the CS2 beta. This would be the first Tier 2 remake that we would get to play.

Uh-oh. Some potentially devastating news could be coming for Counter-Strike fans, as a rumour is circulating on Reddit that the game's release date could be pushed back.

The title was supposed to release this summer, but as the days tick on, its arrival becomes less and less likely. As Reddit posts indicate that the new Nuke map will replace Mirage in the game's beta going forward, it's widely thought widely that the game needs more work.

If this is the case, it means Counter-Strike 2 would get that devastating push-back to accommodate for this. The last thing we want is another Cyberpunk 2077 on our hands.

It's a reasonable theory, and though we'd rather the game was in the best shape it could be, it's still a shame to reconcile with the fact CS2 could miss its summer window.

"If this one map every two months release cycle continues, we might just get the game next summer," responds one commenter with frustration in the post thread supposedly celebrating that Nuke is on the way.

"Waiting for the August Volvo statement saying that CS2 will be pushed back to winter and the 2024 Copenhagen major will be played in CS:GO," says another. A third concluded, "There is no way this game is ready this summer." Talk about a lack of faith.

It's frustrating, but it looks as though the beta for Counter-Strike 2 will be lasting longer than hoped. Who'd have thought that more chances to play the game would be such a sorry sight?
