North American esports organization Cloud9 (C9) is reportedly on the cusp of a major power play for its  CS:GO roster. The team is said to be in talks to acquire two of Na'Vi's leading players, Denis "electroNic" Sharipov and Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy.

Moreover, exits from the roster are also expected, as both "HObbit" Khassenov and Timur "buster" Tulepov are alleged to leave C9.

Both electroNic and Perfecto are esteemed as some of the top players in their respective roles and are expected to substantially elevate C9's competitive level in the game.

Both electroNic and Perfecto's tenures at Na'Vi were marked by an impressive track record, including high-profile wins at top-tier tournaments such as PGL Major Stockholm in 2021 and Intel Grand Slam Season 3.

The possibility of bringing such seasoned and successful players on board is seen as a strategic move for C9, not least due to renewed interest in the FPS title due to the increased intention on the franchise with Counter-Strike 2

Cloud9's endeavour to usher in a dominant entrance into CS2 has been hinted at, with these potential additions serving as the launching pad while also possibly letting go of some of their current starters.

Cloud9 still leans into CIS-focused core

The bombshell news was reported by Luís Mira of Dexerto and hit alongside the second piece of C9's roster puzzle. According to Russian esports insider Harumi, the move to sign the Na'Vi duo comes as Abay "HObbit" Khassenov and Timur "buster" Tulepov are set to leave C9, while keeping the team’s focus on CIS-region's player talent.

The official confirmation is yet to be made, though the potential acquisitions hint at an exciting future for Cloud9. Many teams in the Counter-Strike scene have been very active during this transfer season, with many seemingly recommitting to the fresh start with Counter-Strike 2.

Still, a definitive start date for when tournaments will adopt the new version has yet to be announced. The North American organisation compLexity has just announced the signing of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, while the most recent Major winning team Vitality announced the recruitment of Shahar "flameZ" Shushan for Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen.
